Additional Planning Year
Viola Abbott, Chairperson for CAMPA Board, explained that CAMPA had applied for an additional planning year in August, 2015. Although several emails had been sent to the State, we were only notified (that we would receive the additional planning year) on October 7, 2015. A heated discussion ensued. It was felt, that over the years, the State has NOT been as responsive or helpful as they could/should have been. In addition, this is the last year we can use the monies from the CSP Grant. The Board felt that we needed to clear the air on how we’ve been treated over the years. Therefore, we should ask for a face to face meeting with the State and the entire Board should attend even if it means driving to Albany. In addition, further clarity on how the CSP funds can be spent during this final year is needed.
It was agreed that an email would be sent to Susan Magna.
Consultant’s Report—Latoya Massey
Latoya Massey, Recruitment Consultant, presented her report which was read and discussed. Discussions centered around a December Open-House, creation of a wellness piece that has a collaboration/partnership with an organization such as Brookdale Hospital and suggestions on how the board can be more supportive with fundraising.
Viola Abbott gave the report on the status of the building. The building has been rewired and new lighting has been installed. The CSP monies can be used now to make cosmetic changes and structural changes can be completed when we receive our NYSTAL money in July.
JoAnne Challenger, trustee, suggested that we find another location. Larry Hughes, treasurer, suggested that we speak to a local agency, such as Man-Up, to see if they knew of any available property.
Another suggestion was to call the Catholic Archdiocese of New York to see if they had any space.
Ms. Abbott reminded everyone that this had to be done by December 1 if changes were going to be made.
With no further business to cover, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 AM.
